FAQ Furniture

FURNITURE (for TVs)

How do I select furniture compatible with my TV ?

Here are some practical and esthetic criteria:

The space you need will depend on the size of the furniture and the number of shelves you want to have. Furniture with three shelves is recommended if you have two peripherals (Blu-ray reader, DVD, modem, ADSL modem, etc.)

The ERARD product factsheets indicate the minimum and maximum recommended screen sizes. These are only indicative. The primary consideration is esthetic.

Whatever you choose, make sure that you don’t exceed the weight limit of the furniture. The maximum weight is indicated on every product factsheet.

What is tempered glass ?

Tempered glass is glass that has been treated to make it up to five times stronger than ordinary glass.

If you hit it, it shatters into small pieces reducing the risk of being cut. Tempered glass can therefore not be recut, drilled or machined.

Can I control my peripherals if they’re in enclosed furniture ?

ERARD tempered and screenprinted glass is designed to let through the infrared signals from remote controls.

The signal is sometimes altered, depending on how your peripherals are arranged and depending on the transmission/reception power of the remote controls and peripherals.

In such a case, you can boost your installation with an infrared transmitter that can control up to six peripherals.

How do I service my furniture ?

I have glass furniture

You can use a dry cloth to remove dust, or use a glass cleaner.

Never use an abrasive sponge, powder cleaner, or aggressive cleaner (acetone, spirit, solvent,...)

I have varnished furniture

You can use - up to you - a dry cloth to remove dust, or a cleaner specially designed for varnished furniture for the best result.

In every case, use a soft clean cloth and circular movements.

Never use an abrasive sponge, powder cleaner, or aggressive cleaner (acetone, spirit, solvent,...)

Never put a vase or glass of water on varnished, shellacked or oiled furniture as it may mark the surface.

What is furniture Ecotax all about ?

In line with the decisions of the Environment Forum (Grenelle de l’environnement), every furniture seller must now incorporate the cost of collecting, sorting, recycling and disposing of end-of-life furniture.

To comply with this obligation, ERARD belongs to a government-accredited body called ECO-MOBILER (www.eco-mobilier.fr) to which we make a financial contribution or "eco-contribution" for every item of furniture sold in France in accordance with an official contribution scale.

With this funding, ECO-MOBILIER, on behalf of its members, can collect sorted end-of-life household furniture and send the sorted material for recycling.

In accordance with Article L 541-10-6 of the French Environmental Code, the eco-contribution is :

-          shown separately as a addition to the product’s unit price on the sale invoice and on all supporting information at furniture outlets;

-          collected identically until the end-customer with no reimbursement or refund;

-          subject to VAT.
